Green Solutions: May 2014

1. Please "click here" for the windmill activity. You are going to design three windmills, please choose one in each location (one offshore, one plains, and one hills windmill). Your goal is to produce the most energy for your town (number of homes powered). When you are completed the construction of the three windmills please print out the results (graph).

2. Please do a Google search to fill out the global warming diagram. Make sure you include at least FIVE points for each circle (pro or con) and record the detailed information on the back side.

3. Please "click here" for the Global Warming Game. Please follow the prompts to make the correct decisions for your country. After the eight - nine rounds, they will give you a rating on the following three categories:
     - Environment
     - Wealth
     - Popularity as a Leader
Please print out this report.

4. If you have time, please answer the following questions in your notebook about the landfill decomposition:
         a. Describe what happened to the materials in the organic soil. What materials were
                    biodegradable in the organic soils?
         b. Describe what happened to the materials in the sand. Were any materials biodegradable in the
                    sand?
         c. Did any of the material degrade in the sanitary landfill? Why or why not?
         d. What materials degraded the most rapidly? Did this go along with your predictions?
         e. Given you results, what soil type would you use to cover waste in landfills with? Explain.
